How to Combine PDF Documents in the Right Order

Merging is useful when a report, an attachment and supporting documents need to travel as one PDF. The key decision is the order of the files and their pages.

Prepare and arrange your PDFs

Choose Merge PDF and add at least two PDFs. Arrange files using the drag handles, keyboard controls or alphabetical sorting. The displayed file order determines the order of the merged document.

If a document is encrypted, use Unlock PDF with its current password first. NivaFile does not recover forgotten passwords. Keep original documents until you have checked the combined result.

Combine, then review

Run the merge and download the combined PDF. Check the first and last pages of each source document, especially when the sources have different sizes or orientations.

Merging combines pages; it does not make the typography or page dimensions of the source documents identical. Use Organize PDF if you need to change the page order after combining. Use Rotate PDF for a document whose pages all need the same rotation.

Share the right file

Check that the output contains only documents intended for the recipient. A filename that describes the contents is easier to recognize than an automatically generated name.

The merge runs on your device. Download and save the result before leaving the page. If the file is too large for the destination, compare lossless compression or extract a smaller selection of pages.
